Lost Mountain has some talented thespians. We were treated to a production of The Music Man last weekend. The talented 6th, 7th, and 8th grade cast did an outstanding job in two packed shows. The cast was lively, engaging, and funny. It was a great production, once again led by the talented Mrs. Bishop. The set was great and the music and the lighting was spot on. If you haven't caught a Lost Mountain production before, be sure to do so. They don't disappoint.
Today marks the end of Conference Week. Teachers met with parents and we got of school early all week! During conferences, Report Cards were distributed. How did you do? Do you need to set some goals for the next nine weeks? Do you need to spend more time on learning and less time talking in class? Should you dedicate more time to studying, or how about even reading a book? Before we get too far into the next grading period, take time to set some goals. Plan for checks along the way, and when you are sticking to the plan, reward yourself! Remember, you won't ever get where you want to go without a plan in mind. Make your plan for the 2nd Quarter today! The Color Battle Fundraising has ended, but because of Hurricane Michael, the battle was postponed. LMMS brought in a record fundraising amount of 31,000! Way to go!! Though it was a great total, it did not meet our challenge mark, so Dr. Nyetes's hair will not get dyed blue. We will have to try that again next year! But the money we DID raise will go a long way in getting some more technology into our school, so thank you! The 7th Grade was the top fundraiser . It was great to have Epic Erica back this year giving us trivia questions, nightly challenges, and pumping us up. The new date for the Epic Color Battle has not been announced, but stay tuned - it will be great!
Cancer$Lost Mountain is AMAZING. Through the efforts of Ms. Dawson, her team of volunteers, and the Helping Hands Club, our school raised $27,000 for research for Childhood Cancer during Rally Week. We had a Silent Auction with some fun baskets like a Sock Basket, and a Game Basket, and a Chocolate Lovers Basket and a BBQ dinner. There were cool tee shirts, and we had Trivia night at Dairy Queen, a fundraising night at Marietta Pizza Company, and a collection day. The school was decorated with gold ribbons and photos of children who have been affected by Childhood Cancer. It was an exciting day when Ms. Dawson announced the total and reminded us that most Middle School's don't participate. Thank you Lost Mountain for participating and showing you care. The money will go a long way towards researching and finding a cure.
Color Battle 2018 is back and it promises to be Bigger and Better than ever before. The theme is Mythology and we have Epic Erica on board to amp us up with cool prizes and Trivia and we will have the ultimate battle on Wednesday, October 11. Be there! Our goal is to raise money to help get more technology in our school - so it's for a good cause and it's a lot of fun. To participate, you need to raise at least $30.00
